consultancy
ifrik is run by me, Antje Lorch, as an independent biologist based in Amsterdam. I carry out consultancy work about issues surrounding genetic engineering and agriculture for NGOs, grass roots groups, scientific organisations, policy makers. I prepare and deliver information and publication at different levels of expertise and for different audiences, for specialists as well as for lay persons. For an overview on issues check the online dossiers and my publication list.
I also offer support in writing up reports or editing.
My charges are negotiable and - where possible - I contribute to efforts to find funding for projects. I am always interested in proposals for new research.
publications and presentation
Reports and articles might be published and accessible online, while others are internal reports or short briefing papers. I can give presentations and workshops on all issues raised on this website and in my publications, as well as on new issues.
website
This site contains an overview over published articles and reports with additional and updated material. The news blog gives a short insight into issues I work on or come across, while the glossary is an ongoing project to explain relevant terms or concept of genetic engineering from a different perspective.
Unless stated otherwise, all material on the site is free of copy right restrictions for non-commercial use.
ifrik
ifrik is no abbreviation for anything, but a the name of Africa after the following ice age. It's from a book by Doris Lessing where, among other events, two children come across some technical artefacts from their past - our future. Unusual approaches like that and interdisciplinary collaboration can help find appropriate solutions for social problems, and I hope that my work will contribute to it.
